On this day in ancient history - June 22:
The Romans won the Battle of Pydna, in 168 B.C. This battle, very costly to the Macedonians, ended the third Macedonian War.
Also on this day in A.D. 431, the third ecumenical council was convened by Cyril, Patriarch of Alexandria and acting on behalf of the Archbishop of Rome.
