Fishermens Games

On this day in ancient history - June 7:

The praetor urbanus 'City Praetor' celebrated the Fishermen's games (ludi piscatorii) in ancient Rome, probably in the area known as Trans Tiberim or in the forum [see City of Rome]. Descriptions of the events include the praetor throwing fish from the Tiber into a forum fire. Ovid. Fasti. 6.235-240 is a source for the ludi.
